Old Hampi
Anegundi is the original capital of the Vijayanagara empire, established by the brothers Harihara & Bukka in the 14th century. Anegundi is still inhabited as a farming village, and several technological marvels of the ancient empire are still functioning in the outskirts, such as the 19km canal network flowing around Anegundi, and a half-mile long aqueduct which also served as a bridge across the Tungabadhra river. Explore these and other sights of a still-enduring ancient society in the Anegundi Hills.
