BitGym transforms mundane exercise into an immersive exercise experience. Users simply place a phone or tablet on their cardio machine and the app presents progress through HD trail videos filmed around the world. The app modulates the playback speed based on user exercise motion detected via the camera in the phone or tablet. We are headquartered in Berkeley, California. BitGym was publicly launched on Apple's AppStore in 2014.
"We truly believe that people the world over are seeking ways to motivate their fitness and simplify their hectic lives, without having to dread another cardio workout at the gym or home," said Jean Michel Fournier, CEO and co-founder of BitGym. "Everyday, we are excited by the passionate feedback from our community." - Jean Michel Fournier, co-founder of BitGym
The patented technology uses the camera from people's smartphone or tablet, to automatically track motion, steps, and resulting calories burned, requiring no additional hardware or wearable devices.
BitGym has earned a recent wave of accolades by press and industry since their release in 2014, including the award for "Best New Technology" at Augmented Reality World Expo; "Best iPad Fitness App", by the Apple AppStore; and highlighted by Samsung, at the Consumer Electronic Show in January 2015.
BitGym has powered over a million workouts and helped users burn off over 60 thousand pounds.
BitGym includes over 100 fitness tours from around the world. Some tours are unguided and progress at the speed of your exercise while others bring a trainer along to offer encouragement, music, training advice and information about the location. Each tour can be streamed or downloaded for local playback later.
BitGym has several competitors in the Health and Fitness section of the app store, although none of them offer hardware free cadence tracking.
